When you are considering purchasing a property LTT is a very important consideration and could make the difference between you going ahead with the purchase and not. The property being purchased will be subject to a different rate of LTT depending upon the property being purchased and the purchasers themselves, there are also a number of reliefs available which can reduce the LTT payable.

The written opinion can be relied upon to support the LTT return and to protect against an assessment on the basis that you have not taken reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of the return. If the WRA believes you have been careless they have up to 6 years to issue an assessment which could result in a hefty tax bill!
